About The Opportunity
Responsible for the initial phases of development and installation of Vertical Cells. LaunchTechnicians also train Vertical Cell Coordinators and Vertical Technicians on the operation and maintenance of the new Vertical Cell equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in machine design reviews from an operator basis.
- Prepare for cell prove-off visits at the vendors; make sure all required tools, drawings, and paperwork are available for the prove-off.
- Act as Lead Operator for cell prove-off visits.
- Train the Vertical Coordinators on the specific cell.
- Assist the Production Department with the training of the Vertical Technicians, this does require working different shifts during the cell launch.
- Act as Lead Contact for the installation of the new vertical cell.
- Lead the troubleshooting effort required following the installation of a vertical cell.
- Complete all required documentation, quality checks, capability studies and builds.
- Complete the PPAP builds and function as the assembly team for Run-at-Rates builds when required.
- Assist in the process of specifying, ordering, and stocking spare tooling.
- Perform many maintenance functions on the new equipment, including running control cables, setting up grease pumps, adjusting the grease dispensers, etc.
- Assist the Electrical Engineer and Electrical Tech with PLC changes.
- Build stations for rework, first piece inspection, and install any additionally required machine guarding.
- Any additional tasks as required by Engineering to support cell programs.
Requirements:
- Have a High School Diploma or GED.
- Have demonstrated mechanical/maintenance ability.
- Be proficient in math and reading (CASAS Workplace appraisal and GKN Core Skills Test (ie DD6).
- Complete either pre-employment training; 9 month Cell A experience or 6 month Cell B Coordinator experience and
3 month Cell A experience.
- Excellent verbal communications required.
- Should be able to work independently under minimum instruction.
- Must be willing to work all three shifts and change shifts with minimal notice.
- Must be able to travel as needed (International and Domestic).
- Be physically capable of performing all of the above duties and repetitive hand motions.
- Possess strong problem-solving/troubleshooting skills.
- Demonstrate good interpersonal skills. Have a good attitude and show initiative.
- Display good team working skills, adaptability to change and a willingness to learn new technology.
- Be involved in an ongoing technical training or educational program to improve/broaden skill base.
